Mwalimu Muriel “THUNDER-PUNCH” Patton Master Teacher
MURIEL L. PATTON - Practitioner of the Martial Arts since 1986. Training in Shorei-Ryu Karate for a year under the tutelage of National Fighting Champion Harold ‘Scorpion’ Burrage of Chicago, Illinois. She switched to learning Northern Shaolin Chuan, Chang Chuan, Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Ji Quan) and related principles from 1987 to the present under JAWARA NANTAMBU.. American Karate Association (A.K.A) Regional and National Forms Champion 1984 - 1990. She’s known as ‘THUNDER PUNCH’ for her execution of various hand strikes that scored 90% of the time and can be heard throughout the arena. She was one of the top female fighters everyone in the Chicago land area came to watch compete.
Nationally and Regionally Rated with N.A.S.K.A. (North American Sport Karate Association), P.K.L. (Professional Karate League), A.K.A. (American Karate Association) and F.L.M.A. (Florida League of Martial Artists). Accumulating many awards competing at Local and National competitions through out the United States. She has assisted since 1989 in training many students (male and female) who have gone on to do well themselves, teaching and competing locally and on the national circuit. F.L.M.A triple crown producer in 1994 & 1995, students finishing first in three Marital Arts disciplines of forms, weapons and fighting during the competition season.
Accomplishments 1988 1st Place Women Under Black Belt Sparring at The Diamond Nationals in Minneapolis, Minnesota Voted # 1 National Karate Tournament every year. 1988 2nd Place Women Under Black Belt Sparring at The American Karate Association Grand Nationals in Chicago, Illinois. 1988 # 3 Women Under Black Belt Sparring Regional Champion point winner with American Karate Associations. 1989 2nd Place Women Under Black Belt Sparring at The Blue Grass Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. 1989 #2 Women Under Black Belt Sparring Regional & National Champion point winner, with The American Karate Association. 1990 2nd Place Women Under Black Belt Sparring at The American Karate Associations Grand Nationals in Chicago, Illinois. 1990 #1 Women Under Black Belt Sparring Regional & National Champion point winner, with The American Karate Association. 1992 to current time Official FLMA (Florida League of Martial Artists). 1991—2004 Official US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships 1995 #1 Women Executive Black Belt Sparring Champion with FLMA, (‘Florida League of Martial Artists’). 2000 #1 Women's Executive Black Belt Sparring Champion, FLMA. 2001 #1 Women's Executive Black Belt Sparring Champion, FLMA 2002-2003 Elected served Two year term as Region 1 Director FLMA. 2002 Member of FLMA 2002 National & Regional Competition TEAM 2002 # 1 Women’s Executive Black Belt Sparring Champion, FLMA 2002 # 1 Women’s Tag Team Champion, FLMA May 21, 2005 Master of the Year (Wa No Michi Ryu Kai International)
